The Lake Stevens Vikings will face off against the Cascade Bruins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Stevens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Lake Stevens easily dispatched Marysville-Pilchuck on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Vikings fell just short of Snohomish by a score of 8-6 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered against the Panthers since April 26, 2016.

Lake Stevens got a good showing from Cade Landes, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Landes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lake Stevens saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kellen Gadin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run. Cayden DeElena was another, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cascade had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Archbishop Murphy on Tuesday.

Lake Stevens' loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Cascade, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.

Lake Stevens beat Cascade 4-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
