Softball Recap: Veterans Memorial Takes a Loss

Veterans Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles.

Mia Gonzalez and Gia Perez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Perez scored a run while going 2-for-4. Vivica Cruz also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Veterans Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Veterans Memorial didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-5 win against King on the 1st. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-1 victory against Raymondville on the 28th.
