Basketball Recap: Jayce Maiden Key Part of a Team Effort in Pirates Win

Belton's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over KIPP Legacy. The win was all the more spectacular given the Pirates' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while KIPP Legacy are ranked 92nd).

Belton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayce Maiden, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Jw Johnson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Belton's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for KIPP Legacy, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.

Belton will head out to face off against Chrisman at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. Belton is facing Chrisman at the right time seeing as Chrisman is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for KIPP Legacy, they will take on Raymore-Peculiar in a tournament on Thursday.
