Baseball Game Preview: University Trailblazers vs. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves

University is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Trailblazers will host the Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. University is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

University is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Cathedral just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Fighting Irish by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trailblazers have suffered since April 12th.

Cooper Cammack was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of University's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Burnett, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory beat Franklin Central 6-2 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Braves have won by exactly four runs.

The team relied heavily on Anthony Suscha, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew O'Brien, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for University, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. University has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts.
