Basketball Recap: Chippewa Victorious

Chippewa posted their closest win since January 11, 2024 on Saturday. They skirted past the Streetsboro Rockets 47-45. The Chipps have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rockets, too.

Naomi Benson and Carlee Bedford certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Benson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds, while Bedford posted 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. Benson's afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sydney Abbuhl, who had three points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Chippewa pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points per game. As for Streetsboro, they moved to 8-2 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Chippewa will take on Dalton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Streetsboro, they will face off against Cloverleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
