Basketball Game Preview: Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles vs. Western Hills Cougars

Diamond Hill-Jarvis hasn't had much luck against Western Hills recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles will face off against the Western Hills Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Diamond Hill-Jarvis had to suffer through a 90-40 loss at the hands of Southwest. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1033rd, while the Raiders are ranked 325th).

Despite the loss, Diamond Hill-Jarvis had strong showings from Isaiah Espinosa, who posted eight points and five rebounds, and Anthony Elizondo, who put up 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals. That's the most boards Espinosa has posted since back in November of 2024.

Even though they lost, Diamond Hill-Jarvis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Western Hills faced off against Dunbar on Tuesday. Western Hills took a 69-54 bruising from Dunbar.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis' record now sits at 10-18. As for Western Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis strolled past Western Hills when the teams last played on January 7th by a score of 56-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Diamond Hill-Jarvis since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
