Recap: Gardner Wildcats vs. Tyngsborough Tigers
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, The Gardner Wildcats couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were beaten by Tyngsborough 53-26 on Friday. Gardner's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Gardner still got an impressive performance from Alexavier Figueroa, who threw for 165 yards and four touchdowns.
It was another big night for Bryce Goulet, who rushed for 122 yards on only ten carries, and also threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes. Goulet hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Tyngsborough also got help from Tim Guilmette who showed off his sure hands for 108 receiving yards.
Gardner's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Tyngsborough, their victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Gardner will take on Oakmont Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Oakmont Regional is ranked 172nd, while Gardner is ranked 167th). As for Tyngsborough, they will head out on the road to face off against Uxbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Uxbridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
