Volleyball Recap: Willard Falls to Branson

After flying high against Waynesville on Thursday, Willard came back down to earth. The Tigers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Branson Pirates on Friday.

While Willard ultimately came up short, they really made Branson work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 27-25.

Branson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erinn Swofford, who had 21 assists and seven digs. Joree McBride was another key player, getting nine digs and eight kills.

Willard's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Branson, they have been performing incredibly well recently, winning 11 of their last 12 contests. That run has powered them to an 18-5-1 record this season.

Willard will challenge Logan-Rogersville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Branson, they will square off against Carl Junction at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
