Baseball Game Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. West Johnston Wildcats

The Hunt Warriors will head out to square off against the West Johnston Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hunt 3.2, West Johnston 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Hunt's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when South Central hitters got past them. The Warriors lost 16-4 to the Falcons on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warriors have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Hunt saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Taylor, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, West Johnston fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against C.B. Aycock on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Falcons by a score of 3-1. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Golden Falcons since on Friday.

This is the second loss in a row for West Johnston and nudges their season record down to 10-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Hunt, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Hunt couldn't quite finish off West Johnston in their previous matchup last Friday and fell 4-2. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
