Softball Recap: Ore City Takes a Loss

If Ore City was riding high fresh off their 17-3 takedown of Carlisle last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ore City fell just short of the Harleton Wildcats by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Rebels' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jordan Johnson put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keylee Richardson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Richardson a new career-high in doubles (two). Kayla Peckham was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Ore City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Harleton, their record is now 5-13.

While Ore City had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
