Basketball Game Preview: Oakland-Craig Knights vs. Wisner-Pilger Gators

The Oakland-Craig Knights will take on the Wisner-Pilger Gators in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oakland-Craig has four straight wins, Wisner-Pilger has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Oakland-Craig earned a 57-47 victory over Winnebago.

Oakland-Craig had a senior duo take command as Braylon Anderson went 9 for 13 on his way to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists and Corbin Guill almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Anderson is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Druckenmiller, who posted seven points.

Oakland-Craig smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Wisner-Pilger played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting North Bend Central an easy 64-38 win. The Gators were down 51-30 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Oakland-Craig pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Wisner-Pilger, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Oakland-Craig took their win against Wisner-Pilger when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 64-44. Will Oakland-Craig repeat their success, or does Wisner-Pilger have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
