After compiling data since 2004, we have come up with the 20 best high school football programs in Montana.

It has been 10 years now that MaxPreps has put out football computer rankings, presented by the Army National Guard.
That's plenty of time to come up with a solid list of which programs have been the most dominant during the MaxPreps era.
For the purpose of the rankings, each team will be awarded points based off where it finished in the computer rankings after each season. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall it receives 25 points. If the team finished No. 25 overall, it would get one point. A team also receives 30 points for winning a state title and 15 for being the runner-up.

1. Billings Central Catholic - 352 pointsOverall record: 97-16
The Rams have finished in the Top 5 seven times, capturing two state championships in the process.
2. Beaverhead County (Dillon) - 347Overall record: 91-15
The Beavers have four state championship victories to go along with their nine Top 10 finishes.
3. Capital (Helena) - 321Overall record: 95-27
Capital has ranked inside the Top 10 six times, piling up four AA state titles while doing so.
4. Fairfield - 262Overall record: 90-19
A Class B state title and ten Top 25 finishes are Fairfield's to claim.
5. Billings West - 245Overall record: 86-32
The Golden Bears lay claim to nine Top 25 finishes and a AA state championship victory.
6. Russell (Great Falls) - 187Overall record: 75-40
The Rustlers have recorded nine Top 25 finishes and two AA state titles.
7. Huntley Project (Worden) - 182Overall record: 81-20
The Red Devils have finished in the Top 25 six times and been the victor in two Class B state title games.
8. Frenchtown - 173Overall record: 64-37
Frenchtown has eight Top 25 finishes and one state title.
9. Loyola-Sacred Heart (Missoula) - 168Overall record: 83-17
The Rams have captured two state titles and notched seven Top 25 finishes.
10. Bozeman - 165Overall record: 65-47
Bozeman has piled up eight Top 25 finishes and two Class AA state titles.
11. Helena - 155Overall record: 78-36
Helena has accumulated nine Top 25 finishes.
12. Custer County (Miles City) - 154Overall record: 67-34-1
The Cowboys have been the victor in two Class A state championship games, and have also racked up seven Top 25 finishes.
13. Malta/Whitewater/Saco (Malta) - 148Overall record: 67-14
The Mustangs lay claim to a Class B state championship and five Top 25 finishes.
14. Skyview (Billings) - 104Overall record: 53-58
Skyview has one runner-up finish and six Top 20 finishes.
15. Baker/Plevna (Baker) - 102Overall record: 68-17
The Spartans have a Class B state title on their record as well as four Top 25 finishes.
16. Laurel - 99Overall record: 51-46
Laurel has finished in the Top 20 six times.
17. Butte - 90Overall record: 48-60
The Bulldogs own a Class AA state championship and six Top 25 finishes.
18. Cut Bank - 89Overall record: 56-38
Cut Bank has finished in the Top 15 three times and has also won a Class B state title.
19. Havre - 79Overall record: 59-39-1
Havre has a Class A state championship under its belt to go along with six Top 25 finishes.
20. Polson - 77Overall record: 70-23
The Pirates have finished the season in the Top 25 seven times.
