Baseball Recap: Helix Comes Up Short

Helix lost to Eastlake back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Scotties fell just short of the Titans by a score of 5-3.

Helix saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Romeo Briones, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Briones has become a key player for the Scotties: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

Helix has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Eastlake, their record is now 11-6.

Helix and Eastlake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Scotties will face off against El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (215 vs. 558). Meanwhile, Eastlake (ranked 67th) will meet Brawley (ranked 276th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.6, the Wildcats 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
