Softball Game Preview: San Luis Sidewinders vs. Gila Ridge Hawks

For the second straight game, San Luis will face off against Gila Ridge. The Sidewinders will be playing at home against the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. San Luis has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Gila Ridge will come in with four straight victories.

Monday just wasn't the day for San Luis' offense. They lost 16-0 to Gila Ridge on Monday.

For Gila Ridge's part, Malina Peterson made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Peterson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Gila Ridge got a massive performance out of Lillyana Price, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Price a new career-high in doubles (two). Jayden Waymire was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Gila Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gila Ridge's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for San Luis, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
