Softball Game Preview: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Desert Hills Thunder

The Spanish Fork Dons will square off against the Desert Hills Thunder at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish Fork is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

On Monday, Spanish Fork had just enough and edged out Ridgeline 5-4. That's two games straight that the Dons have won by just one run.

Anaca Olsen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lia Higginson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. McKenna Anderson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Spanish Fork hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Desert Hills faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Thunder never let the Pioneers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Considering the Thunder have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Desert Hills' victory bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Spanish Fork, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Spanish Fork hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Desert Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.8 home runs.
