Baseball Game Preview: Cushing Academy Penguins vs. Middlesex

The Cushing Academy Penguins will head out on the road to face off against Middlesex at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Cushing Academy came up short against Phillips Academy and fell 6-1. The Penguins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Middlesex also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Tabor Academy by a score of 8-3. Middlesex hasn't had much luck with Tabor Academy recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Justin Guidara was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Middlesex saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Gates, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Matt Palmer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Cushing Academy's record is now 4-11-1. As for Middlesex, their record now sits at 2-12.

Cushing Academy couldn't quite get it done against Middlesex in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Penguins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
