Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Rankin Cougars vs. Etowah Blue Devils

The Northwest Rankin Cougars will face off against the Etowah Blue Devils at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Northwest Rankin took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Clinton a 5-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Arrows: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Brady Saxton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Scott, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Etowah was able to grind out a solid win over Sardis on Tuesday, taking the game 9-5.

Etowah's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Northwest Rankin, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
