High school basketball: Dejah Saldivar from California, Emon Hodzic from Illinois headline Stat Freaks

Ontario Christian junior Saldivar hits Golden State record 17 3-pointers, scoring 51 in victory.

High school basketball is heating up and the last week of games saw no shortage of outstanding statistical performances. We are highlighting some of the top boys and girls efforts in this edition of Stat Freaks.

Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.) is 19-2 this season and have a 3-point machine in junior Dejah Saldivar.

On Jan. 13 against Linfield Christian (Temecula, Calif.), Saldivar could not miss. She made history by draining a state-record 17 3-pointers. All of her 51 points were tallied from distance and she drained five straight 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Saldivar leads the country with 99 made 3-pointers this season.



Many of her triples were assisted by Washington commit Chloe Briggs, who leads Ontario Christian with 8.6 assists per contest. Saldivar has 10 games with at least 5 3-pointers and she shoots 41 percent from downtown.

Junior Eman Hodzic of Morton Grove Academy (Morton Grove, Ill.) is the boys Stat Freak after compiling a 48-point, 20-rebound, 12-block triple-double in a 74-33 victory over Aspira Business and Finance (Chicago).

On the season, Hodzic averages 27.5 points and 20.3 rebounds per game.
