            Baseball Recap: Southwestern Warriors vs. North Laurel Jaguars        
        
		
        
        
            Southwestern extended their losing streak  to three  on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 11-14 in the process. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Laurel Jaguars. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won  3-2.
  Jackson Couch and  Cliff Sawyers stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Couch  went 1-for-4 with two  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  RBI, while  Sawyers  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jonas Gallagher, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
As for North Laurel, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-12. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
 On North Laurel's side,  the team  relied heavily on  Cam Smith, who  went 1-for-4 with one  home run and three  RBI. That's the most  RBI  Smith has posted since back in April.  Cooper Elza was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Looking ahead, Southwestern will host Jackson County  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for North Laurel, they will look to defend their home field  on Saturday against Pulaski County  at 5:00  p.m.
