Soccer Game Preview: Napoleon vs. Celina

The Napoleon Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Celina Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Napoleon has given up an average of 4.9 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Napoleon's offense. They came up short against Springfield on Wednesday, falling 6-0. The loss continues a trend for Napoleon in their meetings with Springfield: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Celina made sure to put some goals up on the board against Defiance on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Defiance a 4-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Celina, who have now won seven matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Celina has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those nine contests. As for Napoleon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Napoleon suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Celina in their previous matchup back in August of 2018. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
