Martin County barely beat Okeechobee the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers put the hurt on the Brahmans with a sharp 14-2 win on Wednesday. Considering the Tigers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brealyn White made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. White was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Martin County got a massive performance out of Kalei Bertke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Ciana Vargas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Martin County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 9-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory (which was Martin County's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Okeechobee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.
As of now, neither Martin County nor the Brahmans have any future games scheduled.
