Basketball Recap: Calexico Piles Up the Points Against Imperial

A well-balanced attack led Calexico over Imperial in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Calexico Bulldogs blew the Imperial Tigers out of the water with a 68-37 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calexico to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dany Carreon, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten boards, and nine assists. Sabino Martinez was another key player, putting up 14 points along with eight assists and six boards.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Villegas, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanni Robles, who put up ten points and eight rebounds.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Calexico, bringing their record for this year to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Imperial, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Calexico didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-22 win against Southwest EC on the 9th. As for Imperial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-54 victory against Brawley on the 10th.
