Folsom stars headline the best-of-the-best from the 2018 Sac-Joaquin Section football season.
The Sac-Joaquin Section walked away with four state champions this past football season. Not only are some of the top California schools located in the SJS, but the second largest section in the state produces some of the top talent as well.
Here's our All-Section team with emphasis on media input, playoff success and statistics. Here's a look at the 2016 All Sac-Joaquin team.
MaxPreps All Sac-Joaquin Section Team Offensive Player of the YearQB — Kaiden Bennett, Folsom, Sr.The
Sacramento Bee Offensive Player of the Year passed for 4,254 yards and 62 touchdowns in leading the Bulldogs to their second-straight state title.
Defensive Player of the YearDB — Tyler Hardeman, Folsom, Sr.The SFL Defensive MVP racked up 8.5 sacks and 73 tackles. Hardeman also had 12 total tackles for a loss.
Junior Player of the YearCameron Skattebo, Rio LindaA machine for the state champion Knights. He rushed for a Northern California-record 3,550 yards on 305 carries. He rushed for over 200 yards in 10 games this season, including 393 in Rio Linda's 38-35 state title victory.
Sophomore Player of the YearThe Mustangs have a bright future with their QB returning for two more years. The sophomore guided Foothill to an 8-4 overall record before falling to Sonora 28-27 in the playoffs.
Coaches of the YearSmall Schools — Anthony Armas, DenairTook a program that was just 2-8 a season prior to a team that went 12-1 and won a state title in 2018.
Medium Schools — Jack Garceau, Rio LindaCoach Garceau and the Knights rolled off 8-straight wins to win a Division 5-AA state title.
Large Schools — Kris Richardson, Folsom
Coach Richardson went out with a bang. The Bulldogs capped off a second-straight state title run

First Team OffenseQB — Carson Jarratt, Del Oro (Loomis), Sr.Jarratt and the Golden Eagles made another deep playoff run before falling 21-13 to Grace Brethren in the state championship. The 6-foot-3 signal caller averaged over 138 yards in the air.
No. 24 lit up the air as he tossed for 2,742 yards and 39 TDs. The senior threw 12 touchdowns during the postseason.
Ross was one of the most electrifying backs in the state. He finished the season with 2,216 rushing yards and 20 TDs. He was also a play-maker catching passes and playing DB on defense.
RB — Hans Grassmann, Placer (Auburn), Jr.The 6-foot-4 junior was a wrecking ball for the Hillmen this season. Although Grassmann sat out the majority of fourth quarters for Placer this season, he still rushed for 24 TDs.
RB — Raymond Brown, Inderkum (Sacramento), Sr.The Capital Valley Conference Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year rushed for 22 total touchdowns for the 11-1 Tigers. Brown's stats were hurt a bit as Inderkum was typically up enough for him to sit out in the second half.
WR — Joe Ngata, Folsom, Sr.A Sacramento Bee All-Metro pick, Ngata was nearly impossible to guard at WR. The 6-foot-3 Clemson signee hauled in 22 TDs.
WR — Tyler Vargas, Orestimba (Newman), Sr.Led the section with 1,458 yards receiving. He averaged over 132 yards per game and went out with a 281-yard game in the playoffs.
WR — Harry Rounds, Lincoln, Sr.Had near 1,900 all purpose yards and 24 touchdowns. He went on a streak of nine games of catching a touchdown to end the season.
TE — Carter Sullivan, Antelope, Sr.The Navy linebacker commit was a key piece to Antelope's ground-and-air game. The 6-foot-4 senior caught six touchdowns on the season.
OL — Christopher Mendoza, Central Catholic (Modesto), Sr.Mendoza was voted the Valley Oak Player of the Year as a two-way lineman. He's a huge reason the Raiders went 11-2 on the season.
OL — Brandon Knott, Inderkum, Sr.Knott was a key player on both sides of the ball on the line. Inderkum averaged over 50 points per game this season.
OL — Joey Capra, Placer, Sr.The San Diego State signee powered one of most explosive offenses in the section and state.
OL — Kaden Richardson, Folsom, Sr.Richardson was the center for one of the top offenses in the country. The senior was a first team All-Metro player.
Smith had over 1,700 all purpose yards and 28 totals TDs. He was also a beast on defense racking up 81 total tackles.
K — Kenyon Bowyer, Capital Christian, Sr.Bowyer had 40 total touchbacks on the season. He also averaged 40 yards per punt. The senior also nailed 8-of-13 field goals including three during the postseason.

First team Defense
Had 19 tackles for loss and added 16 sacks. Offenses had to shift entire game plans around where Baze was on the field.
DL — Tatuo Martinson, Del Oro, Sr.The SFL Defensive Lineman of the Year and two-way player had 20 tackles for a loss.
DL — Cade Brownholtz, Jesuit (Carmichael), Sr.A returning All-Section player, Brownholtz tallied up 19.5 tackles for a loss, four sacks, and 50 total tackles.
DL — Will Buck, Capital Christian, Sr.Buck was a beast on both sides of the ball. He had 10 sacks and 26 tackles for a loss.
DL — Junior Bravo, Central Catholic, Sr.Voted the VOL Defensive Player of the Year, Bravo was a key reason the Raiders had one of the top defenses in the section.
LB — Devin Carmona, Casa Roble (Orangevale, Calif.), Sr.One of the best open-field tacklers in all of the section, he had 81 solo tackles and was in on another 53.
LB — Laiatu Latu, Jesuit, Sr.The Washington signee was in on 94 tackles this season. Latu ended up with 29.5 tackles for a loss.
LB — Marcus Jones Jr., Monterey Trail (Elk Grove), Jr.Jones had 104 solo tackles on the season. The junior was a tackling machine with 147 in all.
LB — Garret Fountain, Turlock, Sr.The San Diego State signee was named the Black Hat Football Player of the Year. Fountain was also named the CCAL Defensive Player of the Year.
DB — Dante Pericin, Del Oro, Sr.In on 72 total tackles and had four interceptions.
DB — Jehiel Budgett, Monterey Trail, Sr.An athlete for the Mustangs, he rushed for over 1,500 yards and was a shutdown corner as well.
The Fresno State signee did it all. When not playing quarterback, Bailey was standout in the secondary racking up 81 tackles and six interceptions.
DB — Dhameer Warren, Merced, Sr.The Black Hat Football Player of the Year could have made the list on ether side of the ball. He threw 14 TDs as a QB, but also made big plays when needed in the secondary.
