Softball Game Preview: Grosse Ile Devils vs. Huron Chiefs

Grosse Ile is 0-10 against Huron since April of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Devils will host the Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. Grosse Ile has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Inter-City Baptist hit Grosse Ile with a four-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Devils lost 11-1 to the Chargers.

Grosse Ile saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie McCarthy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Mayve McGowan was another, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Huron didn't have quite enough to beat Fenton on Saturday and fell 6-4.

Catherine Shore made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maria Robbins, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Grosse Ile's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Huron, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Grosse Ile suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Huron in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
