The Industrial Cobras will head out to face off against the Tidehaven Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Industrial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Industrial's offense. They came up short against Columbus on Tuesday, falling 15-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cobras, who until this matchup were averaging 3.91 runs allowed.
Meanwhile, Tidehaven entered their tilt with Edna on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over the Cowboys.
Kailea Freeman and Maleah Galvan were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Freeman struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Galvan struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Freeman has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Freeman went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Galvan scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most RBI Freeman has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Addison Duckett was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 contests. Payge Mayo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Tidehaven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive games.
Tidehaven's record now sits at 10-8. As for Industrial, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2-1.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Industrial has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Tidehaven struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Industrial suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Tidehaven in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Industrial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
