Basketball Game Preview: McLaurin Tigers vs. Velma Jackson Falcons

McLaurin is 1-9 against Velma Jackson since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Thursday. McLaurin fell just short of Collins by a score of 70-67.

Meanwhile, Velma Jackson was beaten by Canton 73-37 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

McLaurin will need to focus on slowing down Trevon Willis, one of several Velma Jackson players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 12 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Randy Miggins, who put up nine points.

Velma Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for McLaurin, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

McLaurin beat Velma Jackson 37-24 when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
