Basketball Recap: Pittsfield Extends Winning Streak to Seven

On Thursday, Pittsfield faced Hoosac Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pittsfield Generals took down the Hoosac Valley Hurricanes 63-46. The Generals' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Pittsfield was led to victory by Harolyn Castillo and Kyana Summers. Castillo dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards, while Summers went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Summers has been hot for a while, having posted five or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Smith-Moody, who posted seven points.

Pittsfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Pittsfield's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Hoosac Valley, their defeat ended a 20-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pittsfield will challenge Westfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hoosac Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Taconic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
