Softball Recap: Edmonds-Woodway Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Edmonds-Woodway ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Everett Seagulls. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Abby McCorvey, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Noa Gillespie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Edmonds-Woodway and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Everett, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edmonds-Woodway will welcome Stanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Edmonds-Woodway's pitchers better be ready for this one: Stanwood has averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Everett, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Burlington-Edison at 6:00 p.m.
