Basketball Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Tanque Verde Hawks
Having just played yesterday, the Mountain View Mountain Lions will jump right back in to play the Tanque Verde Hawks at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mountain View saw some tournament action on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Canyon del Oro, sneaking past 43-41.
Mountain View can attribute much of their success to Cesar Feria, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 15 points along with five boards and four steals, and Daniel Anumba, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Feria a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Levi Reidhead, who posted three points in addition to five assists and three steals.
Mountain View was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canyon del Oro only posted five.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Hawks on Friday. Tanque Verde put the hurt on Rio Rico with a sharp 87-66 victory. Tanque Verde hasn't had any issues with Rio Rico recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Mountain View's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tanque Verde, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
