Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lexington). Everything went their way against the Hatton Hornets on Thursday as Lexington made off with a 13-6 victory. This was a revenge game for the Golden Bears: when they faced off against the Hornets back in February, they had to take a 14-4 loss.

Landon Carlock made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Carlock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Newton, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Jake Lard was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Lexington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. The defeat snapped Hatton's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-8 record.

Lexington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 18-2 loss against West Limestone on the 21st. As for Hatton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-2 defeat against Gadsden City on the 22nd.
