Basketball Recap: Prospect's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

It was a good run, but Prospect unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 58-40 bruising from the Benet Academy Redwings. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Redwings 15-8 in the first quarter.

Prospect lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Allison Linke, who went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points along with seven boards and five blocks. The contest was Linke's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Neve Pomis, who posted nine points.

Prospect's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-5. As for Benet Academy, the win (which was their 19th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Prospect and Benet Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Prospect (ranked 17th) will meet Hersey (ranked 80th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Prospect is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Benet Academy will square off against Libertyville at 2:00 p.m. on Monday up 27 places (1 vs. 28).
