Volleyball Recap: Geibel Catholic's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Geibel Catholic's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Gators as it put an end to their five-match losing streak.

Geibel Catholic was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 16-25, 25-16, 25-17.

Geibel Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mallory Clemmer led the charge by hitting 100% for 13 kills and 17 digs and 14 aces. Clemmer is on a roll when it comes to hitting percentage, as she's posted one of at least 100% in the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nolace Petrosky, who hit 100% for ten kills and 30 digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Geibel Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 25 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.

Geibel Catholic picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-14. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Geibel Catholic has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Calvary Chapel Christian on the 14th. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they will challenge Paw Paw at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
