Basketball Game Preview: Curlew Cougars vs. Republic Tigers

Curlew has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Republic has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Curlew Cougars face off against the Republic Tigers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Curlew is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Cusick to the tune of 59-26 on Friday. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Curlew found their leader in sophomore Annika Baker, who went 8 for 16 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Theia Grady, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Curlew smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, everything went Republic's way against Cusick on Saturday as Republic made off with a 55-31 victory.

Republic's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Curlew, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Curlew strolled past Republic when the teams last played back in January by a score of 48-29. Will Curlew repeat their success, or does Republic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
