Softball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Harrison on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Harrison by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that Franklin has lost by just one run.

Kydee Shults made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 5-for-6 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Adrian Allen was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Franklin is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-13. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.25 runs. As for Harrison, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7.

Looking ahead, Franklin will be playing in front of their home fans against Chaminade Julienne Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Harrison, they will face off against Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
