Baseball Game Preview: Bell County Bobcats vs. Middlesboro Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Bell County will face off against Middlesboro. The Bobcats will head out to face off against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bell County has six straight victories, Middlesboro has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Bell County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Middlesboro 16-1 on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bobcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Blake Burnett was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Bell County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Carroll, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Hunter Fuson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Bell County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bell County pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Middlesboro, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.
