Washington and Tecumseh are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Hatchets will venture away from home to square off against the Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washington will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Washington made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Loogootee, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hatchets blew past the Lions 10-0 on Wednesday. The Hatchets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cooper Wright made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Alton Ostby and Ben Merold did most of the damage at the plate: Ostby scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Merold scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Trey James, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Tecumseh can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over North Daviess. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Braves have posted since May 11, 2024.
Cameron Roth looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Gogel, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Thomas Pemberton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Washington's record is now 2-4. As for Tecumseh, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4.
Tecumseh's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Washington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Tecumseh, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 strikeouts. Will Washington keep running through batters, or will the Braves buck the trend?
Washington came out on top in a nail-biter against Tecumseh in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hatchets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
