Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Onaga). They strolled past the Washington County Tigers with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 68-52. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Buffaloes as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Jackson Kolterman had a dynamite game for Onaga, going 7 for 15 on his way to 26 points and four steals. Casen Hutfles was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

Onaga was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Washington County lost, don't look at Chayse Gross. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Michael Peterson, who went 6 of 9 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Onaga's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Washington County, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Onaga won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Valley Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Onaga has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
