Football Recap: Hilmar Skates Past Rio Linda with Ease + How To Watch

It's playoff time, and Hilmar had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-13 victory over the Rio Linda Knights. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won four games by 24 points or more so far this season.

Hilmar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adam Branco led the charge by rushing for 101 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Belo, who gained 104 total yards and two touchdowns.

Hilmar didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nathan Ayala and Jacob Sward.

Despite the loss, Rio Linda still got an impressive performance from Joseph Corey, who rushed for 207 yards and one TD while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Corey is becoming a predictor of the Knights' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 4-2 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Hilmar has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games. As for Rio Linda, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Hilmar will be playing in front of their home fans against Sutter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' defense has only allowed 10.7 points per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' offense will have their work cut out for them. Rio Linda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
