The Carlson Marauders will square off against the Walled Lake Western Warriors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Carlson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Carlson got the win against Taylor by a conclusive 17-1. The Marauders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Ava Vasas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Lauren Dunwoody was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carlson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Walled Lake Western suffered their closest defeat since May 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Walled Lake Central by a score of 8-6. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hannah Fisher stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Domzalski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Walled Lake Western's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Carlson, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Carlson has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Walled Lake Western struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carlson suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Walled Lake Western in their previous matchup back in April of 2016. Can the Marauders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
