Edcouch-Elsa hasn't had much luck against Lopez recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Lopez Lobos at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Edcouch-Elsa turned things around against Mercedes on Tuesday. They never let the Tigers onto the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Yellowjackets' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Lopez put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Harlingen South. Given the Lobos' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Hawks are ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lopez pushed their record up to 9-0-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four matchups. As for Edcouch-Elsa, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
