Soccer Game Preview: Hondo vs. Uvalde

Hondo is 0-8 against Uvalde since February of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Owls will welcome the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 7:00 p.m.

Hondo is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Floresville on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Tigers/Jaguars by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Hondo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 569th, while Floresville are ranked 283rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Uvalde). Their defense stepped up to hand Pearsall a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Uvalde in their matchups with Pearsall: they've now won seven in a row.

Uvalde's victory bumped their record up to 3-7-2. As for Hondo, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6-1.

Hondo suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Uvalde in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
