For the first time this season, Durant will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Riverview Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Durant's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four contests, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sam Themar put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 213 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 30 yards and one score. A healthy portion of Themar's aerial production (124 yards to be exact) went to King Rivera.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Riverview and Newsome meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Sharks pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over the Wolves. The Sharks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

A big part of Riverview's victory came down to the chemistry between Carter Peternell and his top target Alex McPherson. Peternell rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only five carries while McPherson picked up 167 receiving yards and three TDs. McPherson's longest reception was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

Riverview didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Newsome to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Dominic Persaud, Shakil Young, Gianni Newton, and Antrell Johnson, who each logged one passes deflected. Riverview wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 62.9%.

Durant's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Riverview, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
