Softball Recap: Hokes Bluff Triumphs

Hokes Bluff hadn't done well against Etowah recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 8-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lacey Grace Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Makenna Bennich and Sophia Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Bennich went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Jackson went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Simmons, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The win got Hokes Bluff back to even at 16-16. As for Etowah, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-15.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Hokes Bluff will face off against rival Oneonta at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Etowah is set to challenge their familiar foe Ashville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
