Basketball Recap: Jackson Comes Up Short

Jackson lost against Jasper County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Jackson Red Devils opened the new year with a less-than-successful 55-46 defeat to the Jasper County Hurricanes.

Despite the loss, Jackson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jd Pennamon went 7 for 15 on his way to 19 points. Pennamon has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Nehemiah Jones was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Jasper County, they moved to 4-9 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

The future could be bright for both Jackson and Jasper County: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Jackson will try to hand Pike County their sixth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jasper County will try to hand Southwest Atlanta Christian their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
