Volleyball Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Bismarck Indians
Valley entered their match against Bismarck on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Vikings came up short against the Indians, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.
Valley took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-13, 25-16.
Reagan Schrum paced Valley's offense, picking up six kills. Schrum got some help from Hallie Abney and her ten assists. Finally, Alyssa Barton kept Valley's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Valley's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-5-1. As for Bismarck, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Valley will head out to challenge Valle Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bismarck, they will venture away from home to face off against Ste. Genevieve at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
