Softball Recap: Saegertown Panthers vs. Maplewood Tigers

Saegertown waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Maplewood Tigers an 8-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Saegertown also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Mikaila Obenrader was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Obenrader has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Obenrader was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Alyssa Arblaster was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Leah McGill was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Saegertown's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Maplewood, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.
