Baseball Game Preview: Dayton Greendevils vs. Ludlow Panthers

Dayton hasn't had much luck against Ludlow recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Greendevils will head out to challenge the Panthers at 8:00 p.m. Dayton will be strutting in after a win while Ludlow will be coming in after a defeat.

Dayton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Newport with a sharp 19-4 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Greendevils in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Chad Nickell, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Gatlin Erdman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Dayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Ludlow's offense. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost three in a row.

Ludlow's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Dayton, their record now sits at 2-11.

Dayton might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Ludlow in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Greendevils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
