Soccer Recap: Friday's Win Is Righetti's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Righetti hadn't done well against San Luis Obispo recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Righetti Warriors' defense stepped up to hand the San Luis Obispo Tigers a 2-0 shutout. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Tigers are ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nery Saguilan and Andres Gonzales scored both of Righetti's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

Righetti has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-1-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight matchups. As for San Luis Obispo, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-2.

Righetti wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next contest, a 1-1 draw against Pioneer Valley on the 14th. San Luis Obispo has also already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Paso Robles on the 14th.
