Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Scotus' Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but Scotus's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Thursday. They fell to the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs 56-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Shamrocks came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Bulldogs are ranked 39th).

Claire Korth continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Humphrey-Lindsay, shooting 5-for-9 from deep and dropping a double-double on 38 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Korth has scored at least a third of Humphrey-Lindsay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Korth, who posted five points and five assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Scotus fell to 9-1. As for Humphrey-Lindsay, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Scotus will challenge Bishop Neumann at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Humphrey-Lindsay, they and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Humphrey-Lindsay is facing Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at the right time seeing as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
