Baseball Recap: Belmont Takes a Loss

Belmont entered their contest against Trotwood-Madison on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bison fell 7-4 to the Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 on Monday.

Gavin Bradley spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Mike Meza made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Wagner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Belmont's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Trotwood-Madison, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Belmont will venture away from home to challenge Middletown Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Trotwood-Madison, they will be taking part in a tournament against Chaminade Julienne Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
